This month we will observe the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn with its amazing rings. We will also be looking at some summer constellations and our home, the Milky Way! All are welcomed!
Detailed Description:

This month's program will emphases the mountains, craters and the mare of the Moon, majestic Jupiter with its moons, and Saturn’s beautiful rings. The summer constellations of Cygnus, Deneb and Lyra will be pointed out, as will the starry Milky Way.  Over the centuries the Milky Way has been viewed similarly by cultures that are continents apart.  The ancient Greeks called it "that spinning wheel which men called Galaxios".  Galaxios comes from the Greek word gala or galactos, meaning milk.  Hence the origin of the our term Milky Way.  Over 2,000 years ago the Chinese called it the Celestial River or Han River, which is thought to refer to the source of the Yellow River in Central China.  Be it milk, water, spilled cornmeal (Cherokee), or the Pathway to the Heavens (Algonquin), the Milky Way is really our home in the Universe.  Come join us we explore the night sky!
