Summary:
What better way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing then through our telescopes!
Detailed Description:

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle, on the Moon with the famous line, "Houston, Tranquility Base here.  The Eagle has landed".  Six hours after the landing, on July 21, Armstrong spoke one of the most famous lines in modern human history as he stepped onto the lunar surface, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!"   Aldrin followed him 19 minutes later.  They spent 2.15 hours on the surface collecting 47.5lbs of lunar material to study on Earth.  Michael Collins remained in the command module Columbia, alone in lunar orbit, while Armstrong and Adrin spent 21.5 hours on the surface.  Since then 12 men have walked on the Moon and 6 of them have driven across the lunar surface.

Our program will feature viewing the waxing crescent moon, the same moon configuration that NASA wanted for the lunar landing.  Come to the program and learn why.  Meanwhile, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible, along with the spring constellations Hercules, Bootes, and Virgo.  Come join us for this anniversary celebration of one of man's major milestones.
