Bring the family out for a little winter nighttime adventure! Snowshoeing is an easy, fun and quiet way to enjoy the stillness of a winter evening. After a quick lesson, we'll take a hike around the Garden of Ideas which will provide us with a blazing bonfire. If you haven't tried snowshoeing before or don't own a pair, we have a limited amount of snowshoes to share on a first come, first served basis. Thanks to a grant from the Ridgefield Rotary Club, we now have a limited amount of children's snowshoes to loan out during our programs as well. If you have your own, please bring them. Come join us for a little wintertime fun!
The Discovery Center is pleased to partner with The Garden of Ideas to offer this unique program! The Garden of Ideas is an outdoor community center & garden sanctuary situated on eight acres of woodland, meadow, gardens and marsh which is fed by the overflow from Lake Mamanasco. It is a non-profit dedicated to developing and maintaining beautifully creative garden spaces with a minimum of unnecessary landscape maintenance that produce an abundance of nutrient dense food crops. Their mission is to connect their visitors to the outdoors and also to provide animal habitats for wildlife around us.
