This program has been cancelled due to cloud cover. Come join us as we view the Great Sky River and the Birds that fly in it and around it - Our Milky Way - All Ages Welcome
Detailed Description:

The Milky Way has been called many names by different cultures throughout the ages.  The ancient Greeks thought it was a herd of cows with each cow a star whose milk gives off a blue glow.  Even further back, the Egyptians thought it was a pool of cow's milk and called it Bat after a fertility goddess.  Some Native Americans thought it was a load of shiny stones the Great Creator gave coyote to carry to the sky.  But through carelessness, he spilled them along the way.  The Finns called it Linnunrata - "The Pathway of the Birds".  They observed how migratory birds followed along it back to the land of Lintukoto - a peaceful warm paradise. During the summer months it is joined by other birds Aquila & Cygnus.  Both are constellations with stories associated with Zeus and his arrogant ways.  Come join us as we explore the night sky and look within our galaxy whose center is a mere 28,000 light years away.
