Detailed Description:
Take a night out of your busy schedule to just relax and enjoy the company of your friends and family in a place that is free of charge - Your Own Backyard.  Pitch a tent, cook a meal outside with maybe some s'mores for dessert, play some games - hide and seek, explore the stars and watch the moon arc across the sky while catching fireflies in a jar.  Try to develop your night vision by putting the flashlights away - you will be amazed by how much you can see.  Rise with the sun and enjoy the early morning chatter of the birds greeting the day.  Breakfast outside is always more delicious.  If you don't have a tent, use your imagination and camp out in the family room.  A blanket tent will do, or just tough it out on the floor/sofa/chair.  Be sure to leave the electronics behind for this adventure.  Afterwards, please send us an e-mail, or pictures, or both telling/showing us how you spent your night.  We would love to hear about it and maybe post it on our blog.  Our e-mail address is info@ridgefielddiscovery.org

The Great American Backyard Campout was developed by the National Wildlife Federation as one of their fundraisers.  If you wish to learn more about it, visit the Great American Campout website.   Although the Discovery Center is not part of their fundraiser, we always strive to encourage everyone to connect to the outdoors in a fun way.
